Your website on the showcase page? Show your stuff!

Over the past days I’ve been thinking about launching a new site to showcase websites that use AdRotate but ultimately decided against it. I figured that adding a new page to adrotateplugin.com would be more beneficial. All be it a bit more limited.

Earlier today I’ve created the showcase page. As you can see in the top navigation menu. But now it needs filling. For the time being I’ve added some fake listings to illustrate what I want to do.

I kind of announced this last week and a few people have responded. But there can always be more. So now that it’s a real thing instead of just an idea I’m hoping a few more people will “sign up” and will let me list their site.

Why this page? To answer a lot of questions at once from people who want to know what AdRotate can look like on a real website.

Your testimony on AdRotate

Lately people have been looking for “demo’s of AdRotate” or a place to see the plugin in action.

With this in mind – I’m looking at you, the users, who use AdRotate (Free or Pro) perhaps we can work something out.
I want to put together a page which will showcase a few (couple of dozen? What’s a good number?) of the prettiest and well put together sites.
A small testimony with your name, perhaps your logo (If you’re a company/advertising agency) and of course a link to your website which uses AdRotate.

This allows potential users to get an idea of your creative way of using AdRotate, perhaps some extra traffic. And in the end it will benefit us both.

I’m not sure what this page will look like yet but a 2 or 3 column approach where every site gets a ‘block’ or slot seems to make sense. Ideas for this are welcome.

Knowledge base updated – Broadstreet Ads

And another page to complement the knowledge base has been finally added. As blogged about last month AdRotate and AdRotate Pro can now easily work with the Broadstreet Ads ad server with a nifty big button on the Ad creation screen.

Now the knowledge base reflects that implementation.

Various other pages have been reviewed and some typos have been corrected.

Change usernames

Due to an error in the shop part of the website some users have ended up with their email address as their user name. People who didn’t complete a purchase via the AdRotate shop are not eligible for a new username. Only users who bought something or registered through the store are affected.

If you have a problem with that and want it changed please email me with your order number, your current username and newly desired username. You can reach me via the contact form.

Updated Knowledge base and forum

The knowledge base has been updated with a few new pages to explain some of the newer features of AdRotate Pro.
On top of that the forums have been reorganized a bit to make them more approachable and better to use.

Moving servers

As you might have noticed AdRotateplugin.com has been horribly slow, if it worked at all.

Earlier tonight I have migrated the whole site and all related items to the fine servers of Mediatemple. So far I’m pleased with the results. The site’s DNS and linkage will be updated shortly. Some outage may occur in the coming few hours.

[update] Service is restored and everything seems to work.

Update Turmoil

And so the turmoil seems to be over. It’s been a busy bunch of days. I was talking to a friend of mine and he illustrated our vision of the uproar I caused in the above picture.

Angry mobs and silly comics aside though. AdRotate 3.8.3 should future proof updates by no longer relying on not-working WordPress hooks. If you run into further issues please post them on the forum in a separate thread and I will address each of it as quick as I can.

All new website and AdRotate Store

Over the past days I’ve been working on an all new website with a new fully integrated store, support forums and all that goodness.

New Products and services

The services actually didn’t change that much. The current line-up seems to work well. What’s new however are Child-Themes. These are not online right now but will be added soon and expanded on over time. Child-Themes are sub-themes for your website. These particular themes will be fully optimized for AdRotate to make it even easier to integrate AdRotate into your website.

AdRotate Pro Imminent

Also, almost finished is AdRotate Pro. This will be released, hopefully, very soon. The target price is €24.99 and you can review the features on the Features page.

The forums are now closed

And that’s it… 100 registrations of bots every so much minutes. Fake accounts. People’s posts getting randomly deleted or ignored by the forums smart “maintenance” system. I’ve had it. The forums are now closed. MyBB team, thanks for your efforts. But you didn’t make the cut of quality software. Spammers and bots – Please, die in a fire!

So what now?

Some of you still need help and have questions. I will not be checking the forum for ongoing threads. If you have a question and find it unanswered. Please re-ask your question via twitter or email. As some of you know. AdRotate is a product of my company. You can find me via my business website www.ajdg.net. For the time being.

If you have good ideas for a decent support system I’d love to hear it. I do not  want some cloud service. Nor am I really interested in another forum. But let’s hear it if you have ideas. Meanwhile I’ll pursue some of my own ideas and hopefully soon things will go back to “normal”.
