Translate AdRotate in your own language

i18nDid you know AdRotate can work in your language?

Since 2011 or so AdRotate has been compatible with the Gettext method. This allows you to easily translate the plugin into pretty much any language. Read more on Gettext and WordPress on this Wiki page. Not 100% relevant, but it will give you a good impression of how Gettext works and how to handle the files.

Every download of AdRotate and AdRotate Pro comes with english PO and MO files. These can be translated into your language using an application such as Poedit. The process is fairly straightforward and all you really need is good knowledge of english and your own language.

AdRotate (Pro) keeps it’s language files in the /language folder inside the AdRotate plugin folder. So keep that in mind when setting the path.

There is a forum on this site for translations. You can upload your translated files there. Discuss improvements to current translations or request them - http://www.adrotateplugin.com/support/forums/forum/adrotate-plugin/internationalization/

Every translation uploaded will be included in future versions of AdRotate. Currently the free version of AdRotate comes in English and Japanese.

AdRotate 3.7rc5 now available

That went faster than expected. A first version of the new blocks is now implemented. I’ve tested this on my 2 servers and it seems to work fine. This update entails some database changes to the blocks table. This is done automatically when you re-activate AdRotate.

If you upgrade from any previous version be aware that your blocks as they are now will look funny and you need to reconfigure them. This applies ONLY to blocks. Any ads or groups inside those blocks should be fine since no changes are made there. The most important change you’ll see is that blocks no longer look for the total amount of ads and breaks those in columns. The new way is that blocks now look for rows and columns without setting a total amount of ads. This will allow for a more conventional and spreadsheet like behavior. Additionally you can now more easily style the block with margins and such rendering the current “wrapper” function deprecated.

Changelog compared to rc4:

[new] Improved block shapes and settings

Localization:

If you want your translation included in the initial 3.7 download i need those files.
You can find the po and mo files here. And send them to me via the forum.
Version 3.7rc5 has (according to Poedit) 34 new phrases. But i think a bunch of them are combined with existing ones.

Feedback:

Keep sending your feedback folks, this is very important to bring a bug free and super awesome version.

[change] 12 new i18n phrases, 1 obsolete
[database] 4 new fields in _adrotate_groups to accomodate the linking to categories and pages, (automatic) upgrade script included.

Everyone downloading, Don’t forget to send in your Beta Feedback please. This information is important to the future development of AdRotate.
[edit: may 23rd]
There is a small issue with the upgrade script. Find the fix here: http://blog.adrotateplugin.com/2012/05/adrotate-37rc3-minor-issue/
