This is a short update on the state of caching and AdRotate and AdRotate Pro.
There has been a flurry of confusion over the past days regarding WP Super Cache. This post will address a few concerns.
WP Super Cache
Recent events have led to the removal of certain functions from WP Super Cache. One such feature is the one that allows certain bits of a website to stay dynamic. There is no usable alternative to this feature. AdRotate will no longer be supporting WP Super Cache.
W3 Total Cache
For the time being this feature remains supported and W3 Total Cache is therefor compatible with AdRotate and AdRotate Pro. If they decide to remove the “keep-bits-dynamic” function that will end the compatibility and AdRotate will no longer be supporting this plugin either.
Other caching plugins
No other caching plugins are supported. Most do not offer a way to exclude parts to remain dynamic or are simply not popular enough to warrant inclusion in the AdRotate features.
If you really really need to speed up your site; Upgrade to a better hosting package. Move away from shared hosting and get a dedicated server or VPS with an appropriate resource pool. More on caching and why it’s bad.
For many sites a bit of optimization and cutting down on useless plugins will go a long way. If you need help with that or need advise on how to handle such things contact me for more information.
